I kind of mixed the 7 samurai with the movie the Warriors or maybe more like "Original Gangstas". that pam greer, Jim brown, and Fred Williamson movie from the 90's
The samurai were a street gang back in the day that ran like a gang used to. They took care of their turf and were unified to keep everyone in their turf safe. As time moved on so did the gang. They disbanded and left their turf to fend for its self. Fast forward to the present and some kids start a new gang called the samurai and they are thugs and miscreants. They run drugs, murder and extort money. John Jacobson, one of the original 7 samurai, tries to stop some the new samurai from robbing someone and gets killed. The funeral that proceeds is attended by 6 of the original members of the samurai. John's son Jason convinces the samurai to take their neighborhood back and avenge the death of john.
These drawings are tremendously evocative. As soon as I saw them I thought of "Warriors," even though they are clearly not intended to be exact copies. I think it's the attitudes that you've given them. Nice work!
There are a lot of themes that run through the stock gallery many people have similar ideas but they pull them off in different ways. In this series of newsletters we will look at similar ideas but different outcomes.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
